Greetings from Planet Mark,

Yes that's right, like Capt Kenneth mentioned, the Army Half Marathon or Sheares Bridge Run in just round the corner better get ready...

And if you did not know there are other runs and races coming up too in the annual what I call the season of competitions. There is actually the Port Dickson Triathlon this weekend and also the rather poorly marketed Mizuno Run at Kovan this sunday.

Apart from these hear are the list of upcoming competitions you might be interested to take part in. Beside some of them I've also include the link for the web where you could register on-line. So click your way into the competitions and come HPS runs to prepare for them!

13 Aug: NUS Triathlon http://www.nustriathlon.com/
20 Aug: New Balance Real Run http://www.realrun.sg/index.php
27 Aug: Army Half Marathon http://www.safra.sg/safrasbr&ahm/
3 Sep: Action Asia Adventure Race http://www.actionasia.com/aae/en/Events/2006Singapore
7&8 Oct: Pulai Triathlon http://www.desarutriathlon.com/
3 Dec: Singapore Marathon http://www.singaporemarathon.com/ (Better sign up early for early bird discounts)

This is obviously not an exhaustive list because I've only included those I know. Do drop me an email if you are aware of more... Esther?

Anyway, it's been a long time since I made my appearance at HPS runs. I have a new toy recently courtesy of our fellow HPS runner James. Thanks James!

I'll be there this week for SURE!

Meanwhile enjoy the remaining bits of the work week

Live Passionately

Running on Saturdays...

I too am guilty of missing the regular Saturday morning runs...

Like many others I've also caught the fever. The World Cup fever! Even now as I am typing this, I am actually witnessing the Finals of the World Cup between Italy and France. Right now the game is leveled at 1-1.

Anyway back to running... I agree with Captain Kenneth. No more excuses for missing runs. Need to get back into shape to prepare for a few runs coming up. There is the New Balance Real run coming up and the Army Half Marathon in August.

Run on 8th July

We had a good run yesterday.
Runners: Jyoti, Yin Yin, Jen, Jo, Esther, Evelyn, Richard, Boon, Jeng Nam, Kenneth

We did the 12+km route
WL -> Upper Thomson -> SICC -> Rangers toilet -> Tower -> Broadwalk -> MR carpark -> WL

Esther, Richard & Boon did extra 2km by running the loop after Rangers' toilet. It was nice to see Jeng Nam & Evelyn again after missing for some time. For some weeks, Jeng Nam has injured his leg muscles but has recovered. Good to see him running with us again! Hope the others like Srini, Darren will be joining us again soon.

** No more World Cup & IPPT excuses anymore.......

Some latest developments:

1. Refik will be leaving for Australia soon. He said that he will join our run in July before he leaves Sin. We are all looking forward to see him before he leaves for Aus. Well, provided he does not "fly the aeroplane" on us! hahaha...
** REFIK, see you soon on a Saturday in July!
We need you to sign on our T shirt, ok??!!

2. June will be returning to Singapore in Aug. Hope this time the date is final. All our necks have become very long already leh. hahaha...........

3. Esther just completed the Brisbane marathon last Sat in 3hrs 48mins! This was despite her not exactly in a competitive state. She even walked for part of the race. Still it was easily under 4hrs. Cheers!

4. Jasmine will be going for the Desert marathon soon. Hope to see her before she leaves. She can always carry the pack & run with us as part of the training. Then we can run with her at the same speed. haha...

See you all on Sat again!

Kenneth
